A quick question regarding underground hallowed snow biomes
So I've been farming for the dungeon key molds lately and I'm on the last one (hallowed). I created a little killing zone that's basically a huge rectangle of snow and ice blocks that acts as an adequate snow biome. I came up with the idea that by using the clentamitor/whatever-it's-called to spread blue solution on the ice blocks and create a hallowed snow biome in order to create an area to farm the hallowed key mold.

and now the moment you've all been waiting for: it struck me as I was farming...-

MY QUESTION IS THAT I'm unsure and would like clarification as to whether I would receive a hallowed key mold since light enemies spawn there and drop souls of light or whether I would receive frozen key molds because it's still a snow biome and snow enemies spawn there.

Or would I receive both?

I've read that, in this situation, both molds would have a chance to drop.

It would make sense since Hallowed is technically not a biome, but a biome modification that doesn't destroy the original biome. As you say, snow mobs keep spawning there and they drop Souls of Light in addition to their normal loot.

I haven't confirmed it myself, though. If you do farm there a lot (for example if your Moon Events arena is there), you'll know soon enough; you should be getting multiples of each.

As long as enemies drop Souls of Light, you are in a Hallowed biome and a Hallowed key mold has a chance to drop.

For Frozen mold, you would need pure Snow biome.

Been wondering about this back then, when I was preparing my wold for Hardmode, and this is what I learned

Intriguing. Now I almost want to try for myself.

I still have 7 or 8 Frozen Key Molds and a few Hallowed Key Molds, though, so perhaps trying in a different environment might be best.

But now that I think about it... the Snow biome is the only key-compatible biome to accept corruption/hallow, isn't it? The only other non-corruption, non-hallow biome to give keys is the Jungle and it cannot support corruption (and doesn't seem to be affected by the Hallow at all).

So even if you could get two types of molds to drop, the Frozen mold is the only "extra" one you could get. That's not overly useful.

Ah well. I have multiple Vampire Knives and Scourges already, and the other biome chest items are kind of useless, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

Maybe I'll just set my arena in a Hallowed Snow biome, not for the drops but simply to see what kind of molds drop.
Frozen key mold just dropped in hallowed underground snow biome.

Thank you very much for that piece of information, I was definitely wondering how the game would deal with that.

Makes sense to me. Hallowed or not, it's still a Snow biome.
