Is it worth buying the ice rod?

Exactly what the title is. So I recently found the Wizard in hardmode, and I saw that the Ice Rod costs a big whopping PLATINUM COIN.

My point is, is it really worth saving up all my money to a platinum coin and buying an ice rod? I don't really know. :c

The Ice Rod is rather lackluster when it comes to combat, but has the unique benefit of creating a temporary block when used that doesn't need any support. Using it, one can navigate the sky more effectively.

Hm, I never thought of navigating the sky with it. I might consider that idea if I ever buy one. Thanks!

Ice rods really fun, you can make a platform to stand on to recharge wings whenever you want and temporarily block hallways from any range.

I did not know that...I guess there alot to learn from the older players.

It's also a great building tool since you don't have to place then remove a bunch of blocks just to build something (e.g. wiring) in midair.
