1: Do not plant trees too closely together
2: Make sure there is nothing above them
3: Make sure there is 1 title on either side. Half blocks do not count unless all 3 block are flat and equal (No slopes), nor do blocks that have background items on them

well here are some tips:

1.-You should (when planting) leave a 1 brick division bettwen the acorn and other objects in every side of this
2.-These trees are "timid", so they wont grow up if you look at them, they will grow up when they are ready and you are FAR from it (you dont have to see it even in the map) and it could grow.
3.-Last tip, be patient, these trees get their time to grow (5-10 min.) so just go far for some time and let it alone for some time.

--EDITED--
don place anything above them (as EoK says) or they wont grow

i hope this helps :health: ;) :health:

Ya, trees often grow during world generation in places where they cannot grow from acorns.

One tip, though: people are saying you need one space on either side of the tree. I find you need two spaces, or they will grow VERY slowly, if at all. And any object within about 25spaces UP from the ground counts as something that could impede tree growth.

I'm laughing at the fact nobody has mentioned this yet, but the acorns need to be offscreen for them to grow.

Nobody even considered the possibility that anyone would plant the seeds and then just *stand there* and wait for trees to grow!

But it's valid data, so it's totally worth mentioning. With the number of Terraria players, someone somewhere is bound to have tried it that way. :derp:

Cpt.DannyS mentioned it in the second post of this topic.

You can put a torch 1 tile under the ground where you would plant an acorn. That way, you have light at night and you always know where to put the acorn.

Another way to grow trees without planting anything is to make a 1 tile very long bridge in the air/sky somewhere (usually starting near your house). It should be mud and you plant a jungle grass seed (or several, if you want to populate the bridge faster). After some time, the mud will become jungle-y and then it will start auto-growing jungle trees. Even after you cut them down, the bridge will continue to generate new jungle trees. Just make sure to mow the grass now and then to give space for the trees to grow.
