Does breaking more altars after the first set increase the amount of hardmode ores in the world?
If so by how much each time after the first a lot or not much, is it worth corrupting my world faster to get the ores quicker. If i broke like 30 altars would i be swimming in ore.

Personally I went on a huge hunt & smashed as many of the Demaon Altars as I culd. My Home is not corrupted (at least not yet). & I have alot of the higher tiered loot. I didn't notice the world corrupts faster if you break more altars, so I just keep breaking them, and Defeating the Wall of Flesh for fun.

Smashing Demon or Crimson altars does not increase the rate at which biome spreads. It has a small chance to "biomify" any random Stone or Ice Block in the world to either Hallow or Corruption/Crimson.

I worried and worried about it when I was at that point. I ended up breaking maybe 15 altars on a large world, and in reality, I felt like I progressed too fast through those 3 tiers of ore. In my search for palladium I found a bunch of orichalcum... so I abandoned my palladium set. While farming orichalcum I found a bunch of adamantite, so I ended up ditching the orichalcum.

I can see where the corruption has invaded places... if you don't like it, it's easy to dig a safety gap, or get the Clentaminator which rapidly changes any place you want to.

Smashing altars has a tremendously small chance to turn and random block Corrupt or Hallow, so make sure your "contaminated area" is not too big.

I always just broke 6. I figured it was a decent number.

Is it really a small chance? I broke 3 altars, and got two random blocks turn, one corrupt and the other hallower. That stinkin' corruption block actually ended up ending that world. It spawned outside of my quarantine zone, and I didn't find out about it until it was too widespread to stop. I guess I just have really bad luck. :\

I take it you're unlucky.
