The point of a sandbox game is to not limit how it can be played by TELLING you what the goal is, or giving you a quite linear progression. You flail about like a mouse swimming in a jar of cream, madly hoping you can beat it into a stick of butter before you drown, imagining that you will then be able to stand on the butter and escape the jar.
But yeah, kill many bosses, design beautiful or boring pixellated castles, complete/display various collections of statues, banners, weapons and armor, play/host multiplayer so you are not alone in this folly...
Sorry I'm stuck on "snarky" today. I've played well over 1000 hours of Terraria and I've enjoyed it very much. But I watched a playthrough of "The Stanley Parable" yesterday and now I'm feeling the weight of the uselessness of playing video games at all, and feeling like a drunk facing the need to go sober and just give up playing games anymore.
Build a castle
Kill a giant eyeball
Explore everywhere in the world
Completely clear your world of corruption.
Make your world corrupt to the core.
Kill a giant eyeball again
Show everyone how mature you are by building a giant sexual display.
The possibilities are endless.
But ya, Terraria is more of a game where you do what you want. Its not a linear game.
