It will no longer count as ocean for fishing either if hallowed blocks are too close to you when fishing as hallow overrides ocean - though you'll probably still be able to get ocean catches if you go far enough out to sea that the sand type beneath it isn't taken into account.
On the upside, enemies killed close enough to a sufficient quantity of hallowed blocks have a chance to drop a hallowed key, and for fishing it essentially becomes a massive hallow lake when fishing from the coast. That said, there are much more controlled methods of using the ocean to farm hallowed keys and there's no doubt suitable hallowed lakes somewhere in your world already - or at least places where they can be easily made.
