Decorative banner orientation

I'm really picky on where the craftable banners place. My plan is to have red and blue banners spammed on my throne room facing each other. Its something like this

Blue banner facing right, red banner facing left, space, blue banner facing right, red banner facing left until i run out of space.

But the banner orientation seems randomized to me. I found this on the terraria wiki:

"Each banner may be placed in a right- or left-facing orientation, but this is decided by which tile column in the world the banner is placed in. Placing it one block to the left or right will flip the orientation."

But I can't understand what it really means though

I tried putting the banners together without the space after each pair (blue red blue red) and I got what I want though. However what I really want to happen is blue red space blue red.

Help please :D

what was the suggestion? i keep placing banners and they face the wrong direction. this is genuinely driving me nuts.

wow. this is an old thread and i'm surprised you found this lol. and i am more surprised that the suggestion was deleted somehow.

if i remember the explanation correctly, you can't make the banners point in which direction you want because their position in the world will dictate where they are pointed. see the area highlighted by the camera tool? the banners will always have that alternating pattern. so you're going to have to be creative on the positioning of your banners to get the orientation that you want

Hey, I forgot what the original reply to me was, but basically the banners will always point in a certain direction based on their X coordinate. The pattern will always be like this:

→←→←→←
(right, left, right, left, right, left)

Idk if you can see it clearly in my reply above (my post from 2019), if you place your banners side by side with no empty space in between, the banners will always point right, left, right, left, in that pattern.

If you leave one space in between, the banners will point on the same direction, like this

→ → →
or
← ← ←

(notice the empty spaces in between)

Anyway you'll have to be creative in the spacing of your banners. Place a banner anywhere in your world, if it points to the right, then the next banner you place will point to the left, and so on.

TLDR: Banners will always point right, left, right, left. In that pattern.
