Desert Spirits need nerf
So I'm playing on expert in a hardmode world and I can't help but notice that Desert Spirits are overpowered as all hell, The sheer number of them that spawn combined with whatever attack that is (the homing spirit things that explode and deal massive damage even with 75 Defence) It's just nearly impossible to deal with, and makes the underground desert the hardest hardmode area, Im in full titanium armor with all my accessories (6 in total because of the demon hearth) having warding and i still take 40ish dmg per bomb that hits me, and theres usually atleast 20 of the damn things homing in on me because of there being 5+ Desert spirits,
Needless to say alot of things in expert mode still need balancing (in my opinion the eye of cuthulu and the eater of worlds as both are nearly impossible at the gear level youd normally fight them Took me forever to kill them) but this trumps all of them this area is just plain rediculous with the number, power, and sheer unavoidability of the desert spirits. if anyone agrees please say so i'd love for this to get the developers attention, at the very least reduce the spawn rate of the desert spirits, that'd be plenty for me so there is ALWAYS 5+ of them chasing me, Thanks for reading

The projectiles aren't homing, they have a start up and then they launch towards your position. If you move they will pass you by and explode where you once were .

They're pretty obnoxious, but they're not too annoying on the surface. If I recall correctly, the only useful desert drops in hardmode are from mummies, so you could farm them on the surface and deal with the rest of the desert in end-game gear later.

Lol no they are definitely homing, Just tested it, they might seem like they aren't because of the fuse time but if you notice when you go a different direction they change their direction slightly or slow down even, Definitely homing.
Why are you in the underground desert in hardmode anyway? There's nothing useful there, and the spirits don't even drop anything.

Well there's your problem. Always take them when you have the chance so you don't have to backtrack.

Well either way that's just another reason the spirits need a nerf, risk vs reward just isnt there for the area

They really don't though.. Yeah they can be irritating but just move a little and you'll be fine. The projectiles are really slow, and from what I've seen they can be interuppted when hit so they'll stop firing. I guess other people seem to get overwhelmed with numbers, as I've seen a number of threads complaining about enemies in volume, where I can only get 4 or 5+ enemies by charging through an area and purposefully ignoring them.

You should take note that I'm playing on expert mode, The projectiles are paticuarly fast yes, but they certainly aren't slow, and they aren't interrupted when hit, that's actually a good point though that alone would probably be enough of a nerf cause I can sit and wail on them but they keep shooting, and in the underground desert theres not alot of roomto move around, so that makes them way hard to deal with.

then you can play it on normal mode. you know the risk when play on hardmode.

I find your lack of grammar amusing lol

You're totally right. #1 cause of my death in underground deserts: Desert spirits.

They actually are interupted when hit though, unless I'm crazy. The projectiles already fired will continue to chase and explode, but they won't make any more. You really shouldn't be sitting still and wailing on them, either. I personally haven't had much trouble with them, even on Expert, so it may just be a playstyle thing.

They're not interrupted when hit, actually. The problem is that they can spawn in unreachable places without huge digging cause it's a desert. This Forces you to dodge in tight areas, which is annoying when you ALSO have every other mob attacking you.
