Depends, they still have a range, with normal mobs it's more than enough to slaughter them all.
With bosses yeah you will take damage most of the times but you can still mitigate it a lot with their range, hearts, potions, plus the Turtle Armor great tankiness.
Idk i think that the only bosses that might be hard to deal with these weapons are Fishron and The Moon Lord.
Like, slaughtering the Pillars' mobs should be a piece of cake with this thing, we'll see.
However, the Frost Moon is lategame and the Fetid B's are early Hardmode, so they're definitely a weapon worth using.
EDIT: Oh, on Expert you'll be shredded against the Pillars. You need things that attack at a range. Have fun with 150-dmg shotguns in the Vortex Pillar!
