About the dryad's planter boxes ...
Do I have to place them in the right biome or can I place them anywhere in order to make the plants grow?

Some plants need special conditions to bloom like a small layer of water/lava(fireblossom+waterleaf) and day and night etc.

I think one may need a moon event to blossom too.

You may wish to update your knowledge of the blooming conditions for the various plants.

Waterleaf now requires Rain to bloom. Fireblossom will bloom from 3:45PM to 7:30PM unless it's raining. Deathweed now blooms both during Blood Moon and Full Moon.

Note that you need seeds to get the various plants. The planters that the Dryad sells are basically a combination of a Clay Pot and a Platform, but visually themed towards the 7 different herbs. Their only functional benefit over using a Clay Pot + Platform is that they take up less vertical space.

You can plant Deathweed in a Blinkroot Planter and it will grow as usual. Fireblossom will mature just fine if you use a Shiverthorn Planter.
