Mushroom Biome Fishing
I'm not exactly sure if this is the right place to post, as I have never posted before so please bear with me.

I am seeking help with my mushroom biome for fishing. I have searched many forums and researched all the wiki pages i could. I have all of the specs right.

I have enough water tiles, I have the background image and music as mushroom biome specific. I even have mushroom enemies that spawn in my farm zone.

Could anyone please offer their assistance as to why i cannot catch the Amanatia Fungifin Fish? I have the biome set at 599' Surface. I can catch Salmon and Harpyfish, which tells me its forest (which doesnt make any sense to me). I have the pond split with a snow biome fishing hole on the other side. Below this fishing hole at 386' Surface is a Corruption/Crimson split pond.

If anyone could enlighten me as to why i cannot catch that darn fish i would be forever grateful.

From what i've experienced i think you need to be underground because i have only ever caught that fish underground In the shroom biome

I think that doesn't count as a mushroom biome in your picture (because of your fish catches and the goldfish swimming in your lake). I would try to make the bottom of the lake with mushroom grass.

Thank you Xylith. That could very well be my problem. I just cannot seem to figure out why the other side works for my snow biome but this side wont work for mushroom. I will try the mushroom grass bottom and come back with results. :)

That would be nice if you tell me the results, thanks. And good luck^^

I read on the wiki the other day a mushroom biome only needs like 100 blocks to form and be valid for most things, except fishing. You need 200 mushroom biome blocks nearby to catch the mushroom biome fish.

this is my current setup. added more blocks and grass. just before upload i caught a fallen starfish, so i am still in "forest".

I'm confuzzled as all get out. I cant go any further to the right than the farthest mud block, or it disrupts my snow biome. Should I add more mud blocks around the outskirts of what i already have and just let the grass spread farther?

It seems at though i have 200, but i haven't counted. lol

Edit: afterthought

Ya I dunno looks like more than 200 if you are fishing from that spot. It might be the biome priority thing.

You need more mushroom blocks. Even if it has the background/music, you won't be able to catch the right fish unless you have a lot more blocks.

If it was biome priority wouldn't i be catching the snow fish? I walk to the other side of my pond and i catch the Atlantic Cod and the Frost Minnow. I'm at a complete loss. Unless i should just separate it and let it have its own special pond. Maybe remove the crimson/corruption pond out from underneath it?

well lets seperate all the possible issues

#1 biome overlap/prioritys (if this is the case try useing your ufo to fly a bit higher up when fishing instead of standing on the waters edge that may push the crimson far enough away)

#2 hight, if your too high regardless of biome type it may count as sky (you DID say harpy fish and 599 up means yoru head would be at 601 when standing there to fish or higher when ufoing)

#3 size of mushroom biome and/or pool (i find atleast 3 deep with a passable width good enough for the pool, but after looking at your setup you can cross this off)

if i think of more ill come back to this, but those would be some places to start

I have completely eliminated the snow from the other side of my pond. Added MUCH more mushroom blocks and made sure the biome extended to offscreen as well (as i still have goldfish spawning offscreen). The only overlap issue now would be my corruption being OP.

Tried flying higher and still caught Dynamite Fish. The height of being surface or sky wouldn't really be an issue in the mushroom biome case, as the Amanatia Fungifin is reported to be at any height. I don't recall specifically, but i believe i caught the harpy fish on the snow side, while i was still working out kinks with the amount of snow blocks i had. Either way, i'm still catching dynamite fish and salmon, which is my current indicator of biome retardedness. .-.

BREAKTHROUGH!!!!

Thank you guys so much for helping me. You may not think you did all that much, but you lead me through process of elimination. I needed to get rid of the corruption/crimson pond that was under my mushroom. I am still catching salmon, but i finally caught an Amanatia Fungifin! It is safe to say, for anyone in future reference...you need to pay very close attention to the biome priority override order.

Thanks again, ladies and gents. <3

Have been wondering about the same thing. The wiki says that the biome order for fishing is:

"Lava > Honey > Corruption = Crimson > Hallow > Snow > Jungle > Mushroom > Ocean > Forest (including sky, surface, underground, cavern, etc.)."

So basically you want to build a mushroom biome in the forest or ocean for fishing, and the altitude should not matter.
