Where to find Aglets?
The normal "on the surface and hope for the best "chests in my large world did not contain any. Does this mean there are no Aglets in this world, or is there another way to get them?

you can fish for crates on the surfice. sometimes wooden crates will have an aglet in them.

I don't think you can have them anywhere else. Happened to me twice, in solo and with friends on mutli. Both times I recreated worlds to get aglets

Spoon's on the ball. Looks like there's a... uh... 225:1 against chance of aglet in a wooden crate. Still more than zero.

Now the question is: Do I really NEED frostspark boots? That's a veritable ton of fishing.
well...to be honest i made it through the game with just spectra boots alright...and i did end up replacing them at the end anyway...but its really your choice.

I'm playing expert hardcore. I want every advantage I can get :p

surface chest only items are quite frustrating. i didn't get a radar from my world's surface chest either and opted to fish one up instead of making additional worlds. it took forever and was not really worth it.

even in expert hardcore, i do not think upgraded boots are necessary. plenty of bossfight loadouts don't even use boots at all.

yeah but WoF though. On expert lightning boots are a real bonus for him

I'm a bad player. I love the 7% movement speed, and the cthulhu shield+lightning mobility is imperative to staying alive the way I play.

I have no intention of making additional worlds. That kinda feels like it goes against the spirit of what I'm trying to do. "Why stop at Aglets? Why not keep making worlds until you find ten heart statues and roll through every boss?" is the mentality I have here.

Since skeletron is dead, I figure I'm over the first major hurdle, so it'd be worth investing the time into this character.

for the bridge running vs WoF, might as well do 5 fishing quests and use the bunny mount instead, I think it has a higher top speed than even frostsparks.

looks like you are right. Well that's another option then

One thing to remember about "surface" chest is that quite a large area is counted. Any chest above 0 that isn't a water chest should be one. This means it might be a good idea to get something like a metal detector so you can serch in underground above 0 height. If you dig a tunnel across the world in that height zone you'll likely find quite a few more chests. Also at 0 height is where all the alters outside of evil biomes appear. Very useful at the start of hardmode instead of braving evil biomes to break some.

Oh? I thought the aglet chests were very specific about the ones at ground level. Fortunately, a great deal of my world is as much as 500' above surface level, which leaves a large portion yet to be discovered.

A decent way to sanity check the aglets, if you want partial spoiler, is to upload your map to a friend and ask him to do a chests search with a 3rd party map viewer. This way you will know whether one even exists in your world, without having to see the entire map or where it is.

The thing is that they appear in "surface" chests, which are always wooden. Surface as a term is really misleading due to how the game is coded.

This sounds within my moral compass. Anyone here willing to do something like that for me?
