What if i will fail Moon Lord?

I want to fight ML but wondering, what if will fail? Do i need to start over with the event so cultists will appear again in the Dungeon and then towers must be defeated? or how can i summon ML again?

Yes, if you die he despawns and you have to kill the lunar cultist and then the pillars again.





BUT

In a recent patch they made an item craftable by the fragments from the 4 pillars to make a moon lord summon item. So you can just craft that one if you don't want to do the other stuff.

There's a summoning item crafted with the bars dropped by the 4 pillars. You need 20 bars of each.
I guess that you should have enough to create the summoning item if you got to the Moon Lord, especially in expert mode since every pillar drops around 40-50 bars.

so there is no way but to repeat the event for me in case of fail...there is less than 20 fragments of one pillar left bcoz i'd made 2 items...

drop ammount is actualy random 12-60 and 18-90 in expert mode

There is. Just kill the cultists and the towers again. The 2nd time around is actually loads easier since you absolutely get banners which help immensely in solar and nebula.

Failing to kill the Moon Lord (or killing him) results in the cultists re-spawning at the dungeon the next Terrarian day. Kill the Lunatic Cultist, the pillars, and you can beat the Moon Lord.

That was what I hoped would happen. I was afraid of taking out the last pillar and fighting him because I don't have all the gear yet (been a tedious grind fest trying to get it all for my mage kit). This does also pose the opportunity to farm the fragments as well
