No, not really, the armor doesnt do crap and is fairly expensive, unless your playing multiplayer and youre scarce for okay armor, not really.

Only for mechanical boss summons and one or two crafting recipes.

Iron / Lead is only for crafting purposes, and silver+ is usually for new tools and possibly armor.

Is there anything else you can even do with it? My browser doesn't seem to work to be able to search in the wiki.

Cactus is just as good (maybe better) and much, much easier to make.

Neither can mine, right now. Might be bugged or undergoing maintenance.

If you don't have copper, you can't make copper brick at a work bench or copper plating at the heavy work bench. Thus, copper is more valuable than gold.

You can ask the guide for recipes.

The wiki says no such thing, friend. It's really a shame that they don't teach reading comprehension in primary school anymore.

Copper and tn are used to make copper / tin plating. A pretty cool sci fi looking plating brick that makes neat futuristic buildings.

Copper can also make watchs, which are useful early game. They can also be used to make 5 second timers if you need those.

As the above people have said copper plating can be useful for builders due to its looks. No other blocks have the same look as plating.

Ebonwood by the way is on par or better than copper gear. so yes it is worhtless for armour and weapons.

I'm building an underwater city out of copper plating. so it's very useful to me :)
