b) The cultists will respawn again
And you could kill all 4 pillars then just loose against moonlord as you can just re trigger the event
Right now, I'm in normal world and still preparing for that event. I can't even beat Duke Fishron yet. So yeah, still long way ahead of me.
As long as you're out of the Pillar zones, you can pretty much do whatever you want, just like before.
Leaving one or more pillars intact has very little effect on the rest of the world. Outside of their range you can still farm for items if you need to. One thing it does stop is Martian Prodes from appearing. This can be an issue if you feel you need some of the loot from that event (mainly UFO mount).
Moonlord will attack once you destroy the pillars, and there ain't a thing you can do to stop him. Teleporting home will not de-spawn him. Let him kill you if you can't beat him, and it'll be back to the last save crystal before the boss.
Cultist will respawn eventually on its own after the pillars have been destroyed.
I don't think pillars stop anything, such as blood moon, martians, etc.
