I already cheesed the Wall of Flesh with Beenades, and I don't really want to go outside of my melee build again.
Yeah, believe me that was the very first thing I went after when Hardmode hit.
If it helps my accessories are
Warding Cenx's wings
Warding Worm Scarf
Warding Frozen Turtle Shell
Warding Ankh Shield
Warding YoYo Bag
Warding Star Veil
Expert mode twins with yo-yo IS hard, I know because I tried. I don't remember my exact set-up, but I THINK that I used Endurance, Regen, Lifeforce, ironskin, and some Wrath potions, as well as some pumpkin pie. I used NOT a skybridge, but an arena. Was 8 rows of platforms, each 10 blocks apart for easy maneuvering with Leaf Wings. I had the Sharpening Station and some heart statues, heart LANTERNS, campfires, a honey pool, and a nurse nearby in a house on the ground. I used Adamantite armor, and I beat them on my 2nd try. Dunno if this helps, I hope it does.
I've never tried doing a strict class type playthrough before myself. I'd be impressed if you can do it with yoyo's. I always go with whatever I have that will give me the biggest advantage. For all the hardmode bosses until Golem that meant using the Daedalus Stormbow with Holy Arrows.
Hey, I managed to beat them with a semi-cheesy strat.
I had a Godly Yelets, so I believe I had the best yoyo available to me. I finally beat them by magic mirroring to my sky house then flying to the nurse and quickly healing before magic mirroring back to my skyhouse and flying to my skybridge. It was very convoluted, but as soon as Spazmatism died Retinazer wasn't even a threat.
Thanks for the response, I did use all of those potions as well as Poison and Cursed Flames flasks. I had Adamantite armor as well, I chose it over the Hallowed armor for giving more straight up damage.
Absolutely zero melee speed bonuses. Wouldn't that completely murder your yoyo's range?
Plus, with so little offensive power, the Twins must stay alive for freakin' ever, giving them a lot more time to damage you.
At the very least I'd switch the Star Veil (useless unless you get hit twice in rapid succession) for a Mechanical Glove or something...
Yoyos are really strong, this should be more than doable.
Try to get a Warrior Emblem from the WoF instead of the Ankh shield or Star veil.
Your build is too much about taking damage instead of giving damage.
