Also, I just wanted to say something. If your saying Cthulhu is Moonlord. It isn't Cthulhu, it's Cthulhu's BROTHER. It was confirmed by a Dev. Like when you said going into the Plane of madness.

"Well terraria takes place after every one is dead and you manage to survive. Hence why all most every thing is dead or extinked and you are trying to rebuild civilazation. the npcs are other people who survived ."
You said like almost all people were dead. Or races.

I lost braincells reading this, for the poor writing and the absolute stupidity that your made up lore contains, like Ninjathis said, goblins and pirates are still fine, and the merchant even says "You don't know how much dirt blocks sell for overseas" implying that society not only exists, but is strong enough to promote trade of non-refinable objects
Thank you. I couldn't have said it better myself. But now you wonder, 'Why can't we go overseas?' Possibly because of the Duke? Even if you kill him, you can fish up hundreds more. Maybe there is a big school of fishrons just outside the boundaries of the world.

Well you have the travelling merchant as well, implying multiple settlements likely nearby to justify the route, if he's gone to places for the katana, gi , kimono, etc.

This isn't another "I see dead people" thing, now, is it?

Lets pretend you are the character and there is nothing stopping you from going land to land like the traveling merchant: hey you wanna go to a different land that is probably already populated by people/goblins or stay here in my own claimed land and make my own fortune without being contested...
but as you said, god knows whats in the waters, its all just make believe what ifs from here on out

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

Oh God, this again. It'd great the first time you see it, but reposts break the soul of the joke.
