Indeed, the key's tooltip says the key has been cursed by a powerful Jungle creature, which means Plantera.

Still better than how it was before. You found key molds instead of actual keys, and had to craft the dungeon chest keys using the Temple Key from Plantera, the mold, and some other stuff.
