Using sonar potions that will tell you what is being caught and constantly updating your fishing rods will also help you progress.
Should usually take 1 day or about 6 ingame hours. Quests reset every morning once the angler moves in and gives quests.

anyway, THX a lot bro!
Calm down. Usually the angler gives clues as to where to find fish. Pengfish for example (which could stand for penguin fish) might be found in the ice biome etc. You can always use the wiki to help you out with any other stuff.
It only resets at daybreak, not 12pm at night. (making a watch ingame, as bronze or tin will do well enough, will tell you the in-game hours)
No problem.
The quest fish should appear in the first minute, if it does not then you are in the wrong biome.
It's that easy, really.... it's more time consuming than hard once you do this. Plus you may need another world to get corrupted/crimson fish rather than skipping a day
Edit: I have 5 ponds on my server that I go to when I need to fish, hallow/siper, ice/underground, crimson/ocean, underground jungle/mushroom and up in the sky. I can cover all fish with this setup (except corrupt obviously)
Just a question. do you ever catch any junk in your ponds? because to me that seems mighty small for a pond. My 21x21 square pond gives no junk at all. Just a question.
nice tip! thx bro
