Exactly, a platform works aswell
Also u can have gaps in ur background wall .. BUT they cant exceed 2x2 gaps.
Also, according to the wiki, the "This is not valid housing" message only appears in the case of Wrong/not enough walls, it being too small, or if it's too close to corruption.
This house is around 1000-1500 blocks away from corruption, so it's not that one.
There is most certainly not a breach in the walling, as I have doublechecked many times.
And lastly, it is not too small either.
I've also made a smaller room using only cloud blocks/walls with no door, and it is valid.
I cannot for the life of me figure this out.
I might try that later, but I doubt it'll work.
Having it in the air doesn't affect anything. And the overall size of the structure doesn't matter. The size of the individual rooms is what matters. If you look at the screenshot, the ENTIRE sphere is all part of the same room. That is way to big. Try destroying all the walls and doors inside your castle and you will see it will not work.
Going to the housing tab and clicking will usually tell you what is the matter. (Is it properly enclosed? Is there a appropriate entrance? Is it too big?)
My advice would be to try making a smaller house just to test whether it is the clouds fault or the room layout.
