Lightning Bug Farm
So, I want to farm lightning bugs, not only for the sake of bait but for those bug-in-a-jar lanterns. Any tips, tricks, or hints on how to do this?

I have ahad good luck with just a home that is somewhat high in elevation in a forest. Just put a platform high enough to stand on so you can't see about 3 or 4 blocks above the ground. Just stand there during the night and let them spawn, though they spawn more frequently during a new moon and if a battle potion and/or water candle is used.

I've always had difficulty getting them to spawn in the first place, as most of the spawn area is now home to a massive complex of brick, stone, beehives, and so on. I've read that a box of Hallow grass lures them in easy...but I'm not too sure.

There is no real stratagy, just do what Mekalmatter said. However the water candle will not work because that only attracts enemies, and critters are not classified as enemies.
Y'know, I'm curious how people would react to a pic of my base. Next thing I'm doin' is that...maybe.

Oh and you are thinking of the Lighting Bug, which appears in hallow. Fireflys are differnt.
yes. I am talking about the Bug of the Lightning. I don't want those scrub Fireflies.

xD Okay I thought you were talking about Fireflys. Lighting bugs only appear in the hallow grass.
Hence, the square of Hallow Grass.
