Goblin army killing me every time I respawn
So I guess I started the goblin event... No idea how.

Only had copper armour and iron sword, so I died pretty fast. But now I can't even literally move 5 steps before the sorcers spawn right around me and spam me with their purple balls. Hell, I move the farthest from the knockback from getting hit.

Is there really no way to end this besides killing them all?

It ends sooner or later, I'm pretty sure. Maybe nighttime.

It ends when you've killed a certain number of goblins.

Just keep on fighting. If you aren't too far into the world, it may be best to create a new world (Characters can go to multiple worlds)

Most events are stopped by leaving the world and re-entering it. This may not be the case with the invasion, however.

According to the Wiki, you're getting the invasion because you either summoned it, or reached the qualifications for it to occur naturally. These being that you have 200+ health, smashed at least 1 Shadow Orb/Crimson Heart, and haven't had an invasion within 7 days.

If relogging to the world doesn't work, simply do your best to kill the goblins. Most are stopped with doors, and can be picked off with ranged weapons in towers. The sorcerers and peons will be a challenge, since they either open/break doors or ignore them altogether. The event will end when the last goblin dies, unless you get it to end otherwise.

Although, once the invasion IS finished, you may want to focus on getting better gear.

Leaving/closing the game didn't work, and nothing I have read says other wise. The problem is, I can't even move enough to try to kill them. Looks like it was the >200 health that did it. Found a bunch of life crystals together which took me from 100 to 200, which my gear did not match that increase as I was still cave diving.

New world time I guess. Guess that was a waste of 8 hours. Hell, Dark Souls was easier than this. At least I never got into a position where I couldn't get out of.

I wouldn't call it a waste. Try generating a world that has Corruption if you had Crimson, or Crimson if you had Corruption. That way you'll get a new experience, new items. You may even luck out and get all alternate ores to your first world.

The only way to end an invasion is to defeat it. Sorry.

You might try getting a friend to come into your world and help you out, though.

A possible solution: Leave your world TEMPORARILY and start a new world, as others have suggested, then return to your first world once you've gotten powerful enough to slay the goblins more easily. If you're desperate, ask a more advanced player if you can play a multiplayer game with them on their server. They may gear your character up a lot better and make you better able to face the goblin army.

My first fight with the goblins -- yes they will kill you a lot, but just keep respawning and fighting them. Eventually you will have killed enough to make them leave. One thing I have done before is that as soon as I respawn, I go to the nurse (who should be nearby) and pay a small fee to get full HP.

After that, hopefully some time passes between now and the next goblin army fight, and you will be better/stronger. Or more prepared. I like to use lava traps to help me fight the goblin army. With the active and inactive stone, then I can turn on the trap when they come and turn it off when done so I can walk on the ground normally.

Another way is that you can use the goblin mines/bombs that they drop against them. Pick them up and toss them and let some goblins die in the fray.

Another way is to use your respawn to destroy your bed, and you may respawn further away from the heat of battle. That will give you a chance to recover HP.

And yet another way -- don't go home for a while. They'll still be there but you can be elsewhere until you get geared up properly. For example, you could get iron armor. It's not uncommon to have 2 or 3 or more homes/fortresses spread throughout the world map, all set up with different supplies.

You can even get the NPCs to move to your new place (after making the appropriate rooms) by removing furniture or doors where they currently are. Do all this in the heat of battle.

Also, you may find that making another world is just as fun, now that you know more and can gather faster, so don't delete the first world yet. You'll come back to it one day. The 8 hours you spent there is not a loss yet.

So it's not quite an unfixable problem.
