Checking the Wiki would help
Yes, u can put one Bar in the crafting menu of the Guide to check how many you need.
Yeah, i'll do the same sometimes but that depends on what I find while spelunking and whether I feel like rushing it. I generally like playing a fresh run by exploring then spelunking for a while before pushing through the corruption/crimson bosses so I usually end up with enough ore to make at least one of the sets of armor before i've moved on. At the very least the iron/lead for the anvil can often mean the difference between a pre-spelunking metal broadsword and having to go down there with a wooden one or a pick for a weapon.
Iron/lead in particular has so many uses in both ore and bar form that burning 5 bars of it before you've even begun using it seems like such a waste to me. I rarely find I miss the coin more than the bars after making my choice but there are times when I find enough early metal to make it more worthwhile to craft it myself.
Yup, you always need all the materials on you to make something before it is visible in the crafting menu. It would be pretty difficult to find what you wanted to craft even with the relatively new quick select button if it didn't filter options like that.
That's good advice in general. It can save you having to refer to the wiki as often if you make liberal use of the guide. Dropping any item that can be used as material in crafting into the box that pops up will list everything it can be used to craft and the crafting station needed to make it. I still use that feature myself when I forget the exact requirements to make something.
I just don't like the very Early-Game, so I usually just explore a little bit to get some accessorys and money, get enough wood to build a few npc houses, and then start slapping the Brain or the EoW in the face :D
Also it's quite challenging, killing the Brain with almost no Equipment ^^
Eh, that depends on your luck breaking orbs/looting chests leading up to the Brain fight. If you happen to get a spear (of any kind but a rotted fork is certainly nice) and crimson rod then he can be pretty easy to beat, or at least to take out enough eyes to make better gear for the second try.
I just like exploring my newly generated worlds for a while before pushing it to that point though so I often end up with more than enough ore to make whatever I want. I'd advise making a deathweed farm ASAP though. There's little more annoying in this game than finding yourself in need of deathweed after having wasted a half dozen early game blood moons on other things.
As for the Deathweed, thats actually quite a good idea, though I didnt really used it in my previous playtroughs. On the other hand I dont have a Mainworld, where I would have needed it. Should do one in the near future I guess :D
No problem, thats why the Discussion board is here ^^
Yeah, it's pretty easily possible to get through this entire game without making a single buff potion but they can be a lot of fun to mess around with. I used to make rather extensive herb farms but as i've played the game more and more i've put less and less effort into that part of the game. I still haven't bothered with Terraria's fishing on any meaningful level because of how little there is to gain from what is otherwise a pretty boring bit of gameplay.
You're welcome. Feel free to ask whatever questions you like. They just won't always be answered quite so quickly due to the nature of a forum...
Basically the fishing is just for some collectibles.
But a few Buffs you can create trough the catched fish are quite good, like the Warmth Potion, Endurance Potion, Lifeforce Potion and Heartreach Potion for Frost Moon.
Anyway, I'm going to sleep now, was up way too long for the past few days O.o
So cya :P
