Very odd glitch involving wearing developer's armor... (It works?)

I found something very weird today... I was messing around with a friend in Terraria, and I wanted to prank him. So, as a joke, I gave him Crowno's Mask and said that it would look cool on him. I don't usually hack items in, but I suspected that he hacked much of his items in the game. This is because he only has a couple of hours on-record, but somehow he has a full set of Turtle Armor (and he isn't even in hardmode on his world). So, I got Crowno's Mask through "Terraria Inventory Edit" by Shoot, and gave it to him and told him to wear it in his social slot. Yet, when he equipped it (and I saw it on his character), no debuffs occured! He wasn't burning, he could see perfectly, and could walk around without a problem. Obviously, I tried it on, and I was almost decimated by the debuffs... I left the server and got many developer's armors, and even Red's stuff worked. I'm sure my friend couldn't have altered the game in any way (he's 12 and needs me to upgrade his other games) and he assures me that his Terraria is not-cracked. Can someone explain why this is happening? If this is a serious problem, I hope Redigit can fix it before it happens to other people. I'd appreciate it.

I beilive this is happening because you told him to equip it in the Social slot. in the Social slot it shouldn't do anything.

I read on the official wiki that all of the debuffs of a dev-only item still happens when you put it in your vanity slot, the same way if you put on sunglasses in vanity and it still alters the sun.

FireMoot already said that, why are you saying that again? You clearly aren't gonna change his mind, and that's if he even hacks in the first place, which he doesn't, he did that as a prank and he did it one time.

I'll probably check my friend's computer for any Terraria mods; I just didn't think that he'd be capable of downloading them. Yet he has been getting a lot of items through "some friend" (aka another program that I didn't help him install) so he could have a mod. So I'll check on that, then.

So, it's been like a year, did he have a mod?

Who gives a ♥♥♥♥. Everyones downloaded a item mod at some stage so they can mess around and ♥♥♥♥. Its not like it affected anyone in anyway. Stop acting like you are so perfect and that you never do anything wrong.
