Get summons.
Done.
You can really rake in money killing Destroyer or Golem as well.

This hard mode blood moon I just got though doing netted me about 24 gold worth of stuff (and two ice feathers and 5 ice cores)
You don't need to farm Eaters to get Rotten chunks...just ten seconds standing in one place in the Corruption...
OK, fine. It just seems like a waste of hard drive memory to me.
EDIT: Post-ninja'd by Rellik66 >_<
1. Ocean AFK farm with summoner equips + ravens, grab the maps, sell the loots and summon pirates. Equipped with lucky coins and using low dmg wall penetrating weapons like vilethorn, you can rake in coins quite easily. Works with goblins as well but Pirates give better loots and more coins drop. You can get more than 1 plat per invasion with this method.
2. Summon the Mech Bosses(requires farming for souls and specific summon materials + iron/lead ores) and sell the extra boss souls. Their souls fetch quite a mighty sum, you can get 1 plat for around 100+ souls of might/fright/sight. With end game gear you can probably knock down more than 10 mech bosses per night.
3. Summon one of the moons, make use of lava pits and temple traps + lucky coin. Then use Spectre Hood Set + Razorpine/Bat Scepter. This is the riskiest, but very rewarding in terms of loot if you're lucky.
Method 1 and 3 benefits from water candles and battle potions as well. Solar Eclipse is also a good money farm, but it is random. All these require end games setting though.
Im a impatient guy, so I've not invested into seeing what a full stack can gain (alternative varieties of fish can cash in a little more) but it helped me buy out the merchant early game with some quick gold pieces. (even if you can't access the merch early, you can sell stuff to the dye trader if he moves in earlier until 50 silver conditions are met)
Also the crates collected from fishing activities have a chance to have money in that could raise your funds significantly, especially if you get the rarer drops with chances of platinum (chances of crates are raised with potions, and 'ponds' can be easily made with water duplication and water ferrying techniques, 21x21 does the trick for reliable fishing space.)
