Which is faster?

Ashphalt+Boots or Ice+Frostspark Boots. I am looking to build an extremely long skybridge and getting thousands of pieces of gel would be a nightmare ice on the other hand is easy to get. I would test myself but I don't have a Blend-O-Matic atm and can't find any definitive answers from google.

Ice is good for acceleration, but ashphalt still gives more speed.

Does ice give any speed or just acceleration?

Just acceleration. It doesn't actually make you go faster than asphalt with boots, which is a ridiclious speedway.

If you start with asphalt and get to max speed you can use the frozen slime and retain that exact speed even if you let go of the key.

Aren't minecarts only 80% of the player's movement speed though?

Asphalt and lightning boots are the best for speed, but frozen gel blocks are frictionless.

I'm actually not sure. You're probably right though, I just thought it went really fast. They are definitely a more fun way of travel though.
