I'm not using same version as server?

I'm trying to join a server and it keeps saying "You are not using the same version as this server".
What the hell does that mean?!

It means exactly what it says: you're running a different game version than the server is.

Most likely, either you or the server have not updated from 1.3.0.7 to 1.3.0.8. Check your game's version number (visible in the lower left corner of the title menu) and make sure it's 1.3.0.8.

Then that means the server is still running 1.3.0.7. All you can do is contact the server owner and ask them to update, if possible.

It normally should update automatically as long as you're connected to the Internet and have Steam open, unless you've selected the option not to update automatically. If for any reason your game isn't updating, you can update it by simply deleting local content for the game from your library (which will leave your saves intact, don't worry) and then reinstalling it. New installs of the game will always come with the most recent version.

the owner just has to close and restart the server. I jsut had to do that since i couldn't even join my own server that stays up 24/7 haha

Yeah, same here. Yeah, it should automatically update; unless you have Auto-Update off which you shouldn't.
