axes remove walls? ..

Maybe if you have a hamaxe. To remove walls you use hammers. Use smart cursor to speed it up a little bit.

If you got a really large area you could also try dynamite

Axes don't remove walls at all. You need a hammer or a tool with hammer-power for that task.

Oh wait, you mean The Axe? From Plantera? One of the lunar event tools might be faster.

Edit: Just checked, nothing has more than 100% hammer power, so The Axe is as strong as it gets, hammerwise.

Though the lunar hamaxes do have +4 range compared to +1 from The Axe, but they are slower than The Axe.

I think he means the axe. A really rare drop from plantera which has the best hammer and axe properties of anyother

He might mean the Axe as in the guitar drop

Also if you're replacing walls, don't bother removing them then placing the new wall. You can simply place the new wall and it will instantly drop the old one.

I just realised this the other day, mind blown. As long as you are building something there, this saves a massive amount of time.

Is this an intended feature? The wiki says nothing about this and while I was happy to discover this it does take away a lot of the importance a good hammer had for building. Now you pretty much only need it for underground building.

Hammers are for straight out removing background and for switching track and blocks for varied designs. You can make your platforms into stairs, you can put slopes on edges. You can switch blocks for half blocks. The hammer's use just isn't for redocorating an interior anymore.
