I just may be a massive idiot but I don't think I'm fishing right. I have 6 master baits (haha) and the Mechanic's Fishing rod. I made sure the place I was fishing was at least 21'21 but I'm not catching anything else besides bass, bomb fish and the rare iron crate from an underground fishing spot. I make sure I fish from 4:30-6:00 but I have been trying for half an hour and nothing, anyone have any helpful tips?

I found that there seems to be a bug with fishing. If the quest tells you to fish in "Caverns", it has to be non Corruption / Hallowed otherwise you will never fish up the quest fish.

When fishing pay attention to what background you have and music you're hearing. Also the water colour, so you know what biomes you're in.

I had this issue a while back because I was trying to fish for a mutant flinxfin in what seemed to be a underground tundra as it had normal snow and ice although it was near a hallow so it counted as hallow and the water was pink

I'm sure I'm in a biomeless area, the water color is as blue as the ocean.

Caverns is the area below the underground area, and like already said has to be the normal rocky/dirt area and not like a underground tundra/jungle.

Took me a while to get this right myself because the world I made had corruption not far to the left of me and snow not far to the right. However when I dug straight down at my starting area/base everything was tundra once I got past underground layer. I ended up finding a small area just above the lava area to make a caverns fishing spot, now I get those caverns quest no problem.
