Other ways of obtaining luminite ore?
Like the title says. Is there a way of obtaining it before killing the moon lord? If not, what's the point in getting end game gear if you defeated the final boss without it?

ps: I'm not there yet, just wondering.

Seems a bit redundant then doesn't it?

You get the endgame gear in a normal wolrd so you can start a world in expert mode and defeat all the bosses. Or you just use it to kill the moon lord over and over again.

I started a fresh expert character, so that's why I wanted to know.
And I don't see the fun in doing that, oh well

The rewards from the Moon Lord are there so there's incentive to kill him multiple times. Else you'd just do the Lunar events once and feel like there's not much point to doing it more than once or twice more.

Sorry that the game isn't for you then.

I don't know, if you already killed him without the end game gear. You have that satisfaction, but I think that's gone when you kill him again with better gear. Maybe that's just me.

Actually, I would think the vast majority of people would prefer to experience Expert mode with a fresh character.

With endgame gear, only the Expert Moon Lord would prove a challenge; you'd just overpower all other Expert bosses by so much it really wouldn't be much fun.

There's a bit of that, but there are ways to keep it interesting.

A player would most likely have used buff potions and some sort of arena to beat him the first time, for example, so you might try to do it without those once you have better gear to compensate.

A lot of the "endgame" stuff isn't even all that good anyway. Most notably, the Warrior armor is worse than Beetle. And quite a few of the weapons are kind of awkward.

I just feel there is no real incentive to have the best gear there is, since you supposedly beat the hardest boss without it.
Don't get me wrong, I love Terraria and I will keep playing the game over and over.
Maybe if you do pvp battles, that might be the only reason atm to make the end gear.

I will probably find ways to make it usefull, hopefully....

Heh, at the very least it's convenient. No more needing to fish ingredients and crafting potions, plus with endgame gear you can easily make 25-30 Platinum in one in-game night if you need money for reforging and stuff.
Some guy Jul 11, 2015 @ 2:55am
you cant get it before but it is a good way to show that you have defeated the moon lord in multiplayer i guess and it's more powerful.
EDIT: you could just put it in vanity
