S.D.M.G. or Vortex Beater

Since the Phantasm nerf, I feel like going with bullet based weaponry. I'm wondering which of these guns would be worth it? The SDMG has higher damage obviously, and a higher rate of fire, but the vortex beater has that amazing grenade that shoots out at no cost, is homing, and does pretty good damage both to single and group enemy formations.

What are your thoughts?

S.D.M.G. When using ranged weaponry you should have alot of bullets as you're tied to the weaponry you have.

i use SDMG simply because it's rarer, and i don't like homing shots of any kind because i feel it makes me gain less skill at the game, as i have to barely aim whatsoever

With the right gear the S.D.M.G can do over 200 dambage in a single shot at 75%+ crit chance.

As the others have already said, S.D.M.G. is better, like WAY better. Remember to use chlorophyte bullets for extra awesomeness, it's also good to have Endless Musket Pouch for those situations when you don't need them(any situation except pillars, really) since it drains quite a bit of ammo.

I guess I have my answer. I liked the look of the Vortex Beater especially after the buff, but I didn't know if it had an edge over the SDMG due to the grenades. Now I know, thanks pals.

Vortex Beater is for trash mob destruction. With a musket ball pouch, everything just dies. The lack of accuracy makes it so you don't have to aim too hard and the missile softens everything up. I destroy piles of trash way faster than I do with other guns. I don't even need to carry extra ammo, which I would if I used Celebration.

Personally I found that the SDMG has single target prefered destruction, but the Vortex Beater is unmatched in trash mob destrruction. I ues the Vortex beater because Of the ease to destroy many threats. Use chlorophyte though.

SDMG is the better weapon for DPS.

Vortex Beater feels like an actual GUN though, really meaty animation and sound effects make me wish there was a vanity slot for weapons...

You could argue that the Vortex Beater can be better for groups of trash mobs, but not by much. Besides, you could use some sort of AoE bullets with the SDMG instead, or even use the Celebration as your "AoE" weapon.

I like the look of the Vortex Beater so much better than the S.D.M.G, I just wish the Vortex Beater was even slightly competetive with it like the Phantasm is.
