But you could always equip Solar Wings instead of Sorcerer Emblem. It does reduce your dmg but since nearly every other accessory already gives some it's not too bad.
The enrage is solid, I kept screaming and yelling like a moron when it happened, wasn't expecting this at all lol
I also wouldn't recommend the Ankh Shield for a mage, there's not that many debuffs to be an issue and if knockback is your concern you can just slam your hook into something (though the best way to deal with combat as mage is to just stay back in general)
I wouldn't recommend Mana Flower either due to the mana sickness debuff. Brew up some mana regeneration potions instead, they're more powerful than you might think and will help tremendously. Once you get Nebula Armor, you can spawn in mana buffs which stack with the mana regen potion that will make you ridiculous.
My loadout is Sorcerer Emblem, Destroyer Emblem, Celestial Emblem, and Avenger Emblem for damage, plus the Worm Scarf & Celestial Stone for defense and just generally buffing things all around. I have Lucky on two of my accessories for more crit chance, and menacing on everything else. I can nuke things pretty good.
If you're not on Expert Mode, disregard the Worm Scarf.
So. Who Wants MAge Fight
True thing about debuffs, but I think knockback is a serious issue and can sometimes really surprise you. Staying hooked to one place can get you killed very fast.
Mana Flower also reduces mana costs and when used with Nebula armor it doesn't really make you drink potions except againt really tough enemies and bosses. Mana regen potions are great too, of course, but I personally ALWAYS forget to drink them so I prefer this setup. -__-
I mostly only boss-fight these days so I never really have an issue with knockback, but I'd recommend farming one of those if you can. I was addicted to that item back in 1.2 when it first came out before they threw the damage-curse on it to prevent people from spamming :v
Hope this helps!
Full Nebula Armor. Assuming expert, our accessory loadout would be:
-Warding Celestial Cuffs
-Warding Celestial Shell (the base stats are *amazing*)
-Warding Obsidian Ankh (you might get away with swapping this if you're using the UFO)
-Warding Worm Scarf
-Warding Wings
-Warding Frostspark Boots
UFO is a great mount. If you are flying with the UFO during a boss fight, you could swap out the wings and the boots for a Warding Celestial Emblem and a Warding Sorcerer Emblem and get an additional 30% damage.
Your best weapons would be:
Mystic Last Prism
Mythical Lunar Flare
Mythical Nebula Arcanum (for generating buffs with the Nebula Armor)
Mystic Nebula Blaze
Mythical Stardust Dragon Staff
Mythical Rainbow Crystal Staff
Mythical Lunar Portal Staff
Cast your Stardust Dragon, drop all your sentry summons, throw a few Nebula Arcanum to rack up buffs on the Nebula Armor, then start spamming Last Prism and Lunar Flares while laughing maniacally. Everything ever is dead.
Weapon: Last Prism for invasions, Razorpine for single enemies.
Accessories: Mana Flower and a lot of mana potions, lol I forgot all other mage accessories.
Magic power potion for more DPS.
