Frost Armor vs Titanium Armor and other Questions Regarding Ranger
Ok so I'm playing a ranger in expert mode. Just past hardmode a little and have the shadowflame bow that drops from the Goblin Summoner in hardmode. It applies a shadowflame debuff, just a DoT. My first question is Frost armor or Titanium Armor? Will the frostburn debuff stack with the shadowflame, and does it even apply it to an arrow that already has a debuff? Also, pretty much every bow since playing 1.3 has had some "creates "xxxx" shot when fired" does this mean I should just keep using endless quiver? Does making the custom ammo like crystal shot matter? Ranger seems much more complicated then before

Not sure about the Shadowflame bow, as I went with the Daedelus then swapped to the Megashark. Frost is pretty much the best you can get until Hallowed and Shroomite, but I have no clue if it'd stack (Check for the effects on the enemies you hit, like using a different bow to see the frostburn, using a different armor for the shadowflame, then both to see if both particles are there, meaning they can stack.)

Custom ammo is NECESSARY. I can't stress it enough; Crystal Shot and Ichor Shot are amazing. They make the Megashark amazing and are the endgame ammos. Ichor would likely be the best to start a fight, then swap to Crystal in order to maximize the damage benefit from the ichor debuff.

Since you're early hardmode, kill a hallowed mimic and grab a bow, then use Jester's Arrows on the Destroyer to get the Megashark, then other bosses should be cake.

Sorry if a small answer got a little convoluted :P

Yeah ran into a hallowed mimic on expert mode. They are no joke. I just figured because the bow changed the ammo to shadowflame that custom ammo would be worthless, same with Marrow, I have both of them

For bows that use Wooden, you really don't need custom, but not many do that hold up over time.

Son, Titanium>Frost for all classes. The defense and the set bonus are just too good to pass up.

Yeah the problem with it is that all the bows I have found until this point generate their own ammo. Shadowflame, Marrow, and the Bees Kness. Even molten fury creates its own ammo.

You can spawn a Hallowed mimic by putting a Hallowed Key (Or whatever it's called) from 15 souls of light into a regular chest. Spawning it on the surface when you're all buffed up is a great way to fight it, although be prepared to die once or twice due to the patterns.

for hallowed mimics an easy way to beat them is to avoid them like the plague while peppering them with a bow of your choice from afar. (and also try to move erratically while keeping accurate as the mimic has quite dangerous ai for being a bloody mimic.)

Confirmed. Frost Armor does apply Frostburn with the Shadowflame Debuff.

Defense-wise Forst armour gives better then ranged Titanium. 43 vs 34. The set bonus really depends on how good your are at dogding. If you can dogde most of the hits (in other words you don't get hit a bunch of times in a row) you might rarely need the invulnerability for two seconds. Forstburn also effect pretty much everything.
Uneffected by Forstburn:
Bosses:

The Destroyer
Mourning Wood
Duke Fishron

Other:

Hellhound
Ice Elemental
Ice Golem
Giant Cursed Skull
