So how do you reach Shadow orbs?

Played this game for 100 hours and I'm getting back into the new update with a new character, and the two worlds I've created(one expert, one normal) have tons of corrupt areas but the shadow orbs are completely surrounded by corruption blocks that I can't break because I don't have a nightmare pickaxe yet. I need to get to the orbs before I can fight the boss which gets me the materials for the pickaxe.

...is this an oversight with the new version? Seems like I can't proceed.

You can use bombs or dynamite to break the blocks.

Or use the powder bought off Dryad to change the blocks to regular Stone, and mine through it.

Dryad dont appear untill he defeats the boss that comes from the Shadow Orbs. So thats out of the question. But ye use bombs.

You can also fish the Reaver Shark from the Ocean. It counts as a 100% power pickaxe (same power as the one you can make with Hellstone, meaning its useable until you get a hardmode pick). The fish is sort of rare so it might take a wihle with an iron fishing rod.

You can beat pretty much any boss to make her appear. EoC and King Slime can be beaten before you break the orbs.

Oh wow, didn't know that would work. Now I found a use for those 99 bombs I've been storing. :D
