Is terraria similar to minecraft?

I want to play terraria but i dislike minecraft... should i go for it or avoid it? thanks!


Edit: What i dislike about minecraft is: Crafting, i dont like looking for so many resources so i can make a simple piece of thing (i.e)

Kind of.

MC is 3D, Terr is 2D.

Terr is less about building than MC. All you have to build is simple small houses for your NPCs.

It would be more helpful if you said what you dislike about minecraft.

Terraria and minecraft are completly different games and should not be compared disliking minecraft does not mean that you will dislike terraria, but that doesn't mean that you will like it either, watch some 1.3 playthrough, there are plenty out there, it will help you decide

Terraria is more of a metroidvania game where you explore looking for upgrades and finding bosses etc. It's nothing like minecraft. You CAN build but it's not really required. However if your not interested in building at all it's still a good idea to make small cubicle homes for npcs to move in to sell you stuff.

It's completely different actually; although I still call it a minecraftvania.

Terraria is more about combat then Minecraft is. The main goal is to beat all the bosses (there's quite a few). In Minecraft fighting is secondary to building. So if you like the style of 2D combat that appears in Terraria you should try it out.

Terraria's basically a finished game, while minecraft is not, & MC feels empty to me w/o mods.
@Bob of Mage, i agree, i was skeptical when i saw it, but that was back in 2012,where it was mismanaged, now it's full of fun stuff! Think about the types of weapons in MC. 1 bow and 5(?) swords. Terraria has bows, crossbows, throwing knives, spellbooks, a laser filled prism, Yoyos (Yes, there are harzardous yoyos) Bananarangs (Banana boomerangs) nades summon staffs Thorn spears. and the armor!MC has just melee armour that just give defence per piece. Terraria has magic robes, melee sets, ranger sets and even friggin armor made of fossils and Spider's Carcasses! I could go on and on but i think i listed enough!
