I died in a dungeon thing by a giant skull?

I got a bit adventurous and went exploring far far far from my home base and found a giant stone building at the end of this desert there was an NPC outside and I started going down the tunnel and a giant skull came out of nowhere and killed me and I wanna go back for my stuff without dying again how?

u cant unless u run in and use a recall potion the only way to get rid of that skull u must defet the curse of the old man or else u will never be able to enter the dungeon

What if I dig to my stuff would the skull still kill me?

Talk to the npc outside the dungeon, select curse, then fight skeletron, then go in the dungeon again if you defeat skeletron. You did not defeat skeletron and it does not acept you going into the dungeon before doing it. Some people have defeated some of the dungeon gardians, but its very hard.
Edit:You can't dig near the dungeon too deep, its still kill you(sorry late post)

if u reach a certai depth he automatically spawns u can try lol

if you dig you will die (plus you cannot dig the dungeon without a better pick I think)

Is Skeletron tought? I legit have nothing but the bare weapons.

Not realy, depends on how good you are, but the old man outside will say if your ready if your armor and health is highish

Skeletron appears when you curse the old man at night (while speaking to him). So don't do that.

Attempting to enter the dungeon before killing Skeletron (accidentally or otherwise) summons the guardian, who will kill you unless you have the right items and know exactly what you're doing. He will follow you until you manage to get him far enough off screen, but moves way faster than any unequipped character can, flies through walls, has thousands of health, takes 1 point of damage for each attack you manage to land, and will one-shot you if he touches you.

The message is "beat Skeletron before going into the dungeon".

Closing the game will cause all dropped items in the world to disappear. For good. So if you've already done that, then it's too late to recover.

Really your best bet is to take a spare Magic Mirror, dive into the dungeon, and warp out as soon as you start grabbing stuff. Throw glowsticks if the area isn't well lit. You'd maybe want to place a bed nearby to set as your spawn point (it has to be in a valid house, clicking it should specifically give you a message saying it's your new spawn - and not too close, you need the guardian to despawn when you warp there!).

Don't have a Magic Mirror? Well, you could try exiting the game instead, but odds are you'll be splattered before you managed to reach "save & exit".

For what it's worth, I lost all my gear to the guardian as well, once upon a time.
