What would be the best why to make a dragon character?

Do you mean dragon looking character, or dragon speced character? Either way, doupt terraria can offer a dragon experiance xD (apart from the stardust dragon summon)

Definately dragon stardust summon and stardust armour, but for social slot I'd say spectre armour with mask, that's probably as close to a dragon you can get on computer version.

also you can summon dinosaaur pet, if you get enough slit or slush an duse extractinator a lot. i know dragons are dinosaurs but they look somewhat similiar

Well there is the fossil armor, so that in social plus demon wings social all dyed red. try that. also fire. lots of fire

Go dig up fossil in underground sand biome and put it in the extractinator like silt/slush.

Go to the underground sand biome and dig out that weird coloured brownish sand.
Then put in extractinator
