I cannot find the underground corruption

When you entered hardmode, a part of your world that wasn't corruption turned into corruption, right?

If so, more corruption should be under it.

You can find souls of night in either the Underground Corruption or Underground Crimson.

Depends what your world has.

He knows that, but he can't find corruption deep enough to be classified as "underground" corruption.

Just checking, yea all I'd do would be dig down after going as far as I could go.

I couldn't take trying to find it so I downloaded a world viewer, I know where it is now, after 3 hours of searching it was the only option.
