Phantasm, possibly broken?

So, today i finally beat the moon lord on Expert. Christ it was a chore. But the reason i finally did it was not because of clever tactics, but rather because of a weapon that i would consider broken.

Phantasm

Now, for those of you who dont know, the Phantasm is the new endgame bow which fires four arrows in a row, and whenever you hit an opponent consecutively you will fire additional arrows towards a target, these arrows will increase in damage the more you hit an opponent with your normal ones.

Now, this doesnt sound all that bad does it? No, it doesnt, sounds like a pretty decent weapon. But in truth it means that its possible to take down The Lunar event, Plantera and golem on Expert, with absolutely no effort. ♥♥♥♥, even moon lord was pretty easy on Expert with this bloody thing

The pillars literally take 2-3 seconds to take down, let that sink in for a moment.

But the thing is, it doesnt stop there. With all buffs equipped, aswell as using ichor arrows, your dmg becomes absolutely ridicoulus. Try equipping the full Vortex Set, go into stealth mode, use buffs and ichor arrows, and change all modifiers to crit chance, you will see what i mean.

you see, normally when you fire an arrow it applies the ichor debuff, which increases dmg taken by enemies. But when you keep firing them you increase the amount of Phantasm arrows you fire, which means you get almost twice the amount of dmg you would normally get. Its absurd!

♥♥♥♥, i even tried comparing it to a weapon that was for a while before it became available, that being the SDMG, considered OP. If you're able to correctly hit your target, which becomes hilariously easy with Magic Quiver equipped, the Phantasm is able to OutDPS an Unreal SDMG with Chlorophyte bullets!

Btw, ive yet to test how good the Phantasm is with Luminite Arrows, that might be even more retarded to marvel at.

I'm not sure this bow is all that good for the game, and im almost certain that it will become the new cheese weapon, much in the same way The harp was in 1.1.

But then again, it has been a while since bows were even considered viable to use, Even The Tsunami was pretty rubbish, so maybe i should just welcome our new bow overlords.

Well, with some accessories and the armor the consumption of arrows is pretty low, right?

DPS is starfall if you can aim, if you can't use luminite.

K, so what i would recommend if you decide to use Phantasm is the following:

Phantasm (Ofc) Unreal

Magic quiver (Lucky for crit, otherwise use DMG)

Sniper scope/Destroyer emblem (Either one works, Sniper scope just adds the destroyer emblem effect onto the rifle scope)

Luminite (If you dont need it for anything else) Or Ichor arrows

Ranger emblem if you feel like you want the extra DPS

This is as far as i can tell, the optimal way to do it. It goes without saying that you'd need Vortex Armor for the highest dmg. Hopefully this helps

thanks, I play a lot of melee with the star wrath, god that weapon is fun, anyway I don't play ranged too often but yeah thats the exact build I had goin on thank you. :)

Oh there isnt a lot of difference in defence. Remember to use the double tap down to activate stealth mode for extra DMG.

Also, just as a tip, get the star dragon staff, that thing is just instant extra damage

wow... I just nuked the 3 hardmode mech bosses in seconds.. and used a total of 11 arrows xD How have I not tried ranged yet... How do you feel about celestial shell on ranged?

Celestial shell is amazing, but its generally good, not just for ranged, you can definitely use it though

Well, aiming is kinda the biggest issue with this darned thing. But with magic quiver it becomes so much easier, and if youre able to stay close enough to your opponent, they will just melt.
