Can't use frozen key on the frozen key chest?

I found a frozen key to use for a frozen chest. I just found the chest in the dungeon, but I am unable to open it? What should I do?

It used to be that you could open the chests as soon as hardmode happened. Broken. Really, really broken.

Thus, they made key molds, so you had to beat plantera to craft the keys. Unnessacary.

The final and current compromise is that you simply need to beat plantera first.

At least I didn't farm hours for this key. I got it randomly by killing spiders.

im gonna farm for the keys even though i didnt kill planterra either. second pirate invsion already gave me corrupt one. 4 left :D

you have to kill golem first. i found that out on the official wiki.
