can you make a base in hell?

so i want to make a base to avoid the corruption and hallow, a base in the deepest lava filled parts of the world

my question is will the npcs actually relocate there

make a base underground not near or in a cave. With a spike walls on the surface.

well you can and npcs go down there

BUT enimies still spawn even with the nurse and merchant down there so it defeats the purpose

In case it's still relevant. you need 3 npcs to reduce the mob spawning. you can in theory (haven't tested) plant sun flowers to reduce mob spawning.

I think it’s safe to say that after 5 years this is no longer relevant lol

Anyway I would imagine that the imps and bone serpents would get annoying, even with the reduced spawn rate some would still spawn

This is still untrue five years later. In fact, I often make beds in hell to easily farm hellstone and NPCs will happily chase you down there. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Mechanic you're never where I need you...

The naturally generated buildings in hell don't work for NPC housing since the background doesn't count as player-placed. If you mine it up and put it back it suddenly does.
