Skeletron expert mode solo?

So, I started fresh on expert mode solo, I got meteor set and space gun, tried to kill skeletron as usual, but freak I didn't damage him even 10% before I died...

Does anyone have any hint defeating him solo on expert mode?

Defeated it!

I made a nice arena, with some honey pool, campfire, heart lantern and make 2 houses inside to get dryad and nurse, regen pot, ironskin pot and that the one that reduce dmg 10%, and it was actually easy!

for weapons I used: Space Gun, Water Bolt, and the one that summons bees that I forgot the name

Get end game gears from normal mode and then go back to expert. You can not do it with the gears you just find.

Same here only I used Ancient Shadow set and Starfury. Needless to say I didn't last long.
I guess it's time to drink a lot of buff potions?

Boss health scales with amount of players in game in expert mode, so it's almost the same when you solo it :p

Yes, it scales with the amount of player, but with 1 player still much harder than normal mode

That takes away a large part of the fun and challenge though.

It looks like they buffed Skeletron's ranged defense even more than before... Probably due to how easy it was to cheese him using minishark and meteor shot (just remove back wall of dungeon and run left and right when he spins, due to the closed space and rapid fire bullets bounce around making it so you don't need to aim much), or star cannon.

Best strategy I've found is to make a demonite or crimson yoyo, reforge it to Legendary or better, and follow the old ball o hurt strategy of running away while keeping the yoyo extended and on the boss dodging the hands.

For second phase you'll probably want a cloud in a balloon and rocket boots or a specially designed arena so you can dodge the eyeballs it starts shooting. They will start homing in on you. Use of potions and setting up heart lanterns/campfires along with using food is suggested.

I destroyed one of his hands, that's a thing!

I'm using minishark with meteor bullets and reforged most of my accessories to warding, 2 to armored. I'm using molten armor and ironsskin potions.

How are you guys reforging if you need to beat Skeletron to get the Tinkerer?
Or can you make a mad dash for him before the Guardian kills you?

Goblin tinkerer can be found while exploring caves after defeating eater/brain. It's the mechanic that is in the dungeon.

You can also just keep making yoyos until you get lucky from the abundant ore you get from killing bosses that spawn as you smash all the orbs trying to get all the items.

Goblin tinkerer can be found while exploring caves after defeating eater/brain. It's the mechanic that is in the dungeon.

Actually goblin tinkerer can be found on cave's layer after you beat your first goblin invasion...

I know I tried to kill him with mid-level hardmode gear and he nearly killed me, so... good luck, you'll need it.

Get the Eye of Cthullhu shield. With it you can dash in either direction almost instantly. The worst part about the Skeletron fight is his spinning head attack. If you can dodge that the fight is easy.

I used Molten tier equipment. What I did was I used the minishark to kill the hands since skeletrons defense is massive until you kill them both now, then after the hands were gone I used the molten fury with hellfire arrows, just keep moving to dodge the skulls and for the charge, roket boots up into the air and use the Eye shield to charge over him, repeat until dead.
