Can't access steam overlay

I press Shift + Tab while ingame and the steam overlay doesnt show up.. anyone else?

I had the same problem a while ago. Then I tried to type the google in problem, turned out my keyboard wasn't plugged in.

First check your settings - Both in Steam => Settings => In-Game, and in the game's own Properties => General pages.

Assuming everything's ok there, is the overlay system actually loading in the first place? You should get a pop-up down the bottom of the screen saying so every time you start the game, if it is (the one that tells you to press Shift + Tab to open it).

Some antivirus packages disable the overlay on some games. BitDefender in particular is notorious for it, but it's not the only one which does it.

Yea bro it shows me the welcome message in the bottom right but still no overlay when I press the keys.

I got this problem same at TERA(mmo), The rest of my games works perfectly Fine idk what's the cause of it. i tried disabling antivirus still doesn't work

lol didnt even remember I made this thread.. and what he said probably won't fix it for ppl that still have this issue..

But well, since he revived this thread already, I will take this opportunity to say the problem got fixed automagically (at least for me)

i found a way that probably can fix this maybe idk, but anyway if you run terraria press ctrl, alt, and delete and go to task manger, right click terraria got to properties, and press the compatibility tab and uncheck the box above what window version your useing it should work

Sorry if this counts as a necropost, but thank you. I remember I had to turn on the compatability thing to get the game to run in the first place, but it seems that it works without it now, and the steam overlay works when it's unchecked.

Who cares if it's necro, if it's relevant, better to add to an older discussion than create endless new threads about this problem. I just got Terraria yesterday and landed on this thread as I'm having the same problem.
