Why is Meowmere the strongest sword?

Seriously, why does the strongest sword have to be a joke weapon that references a really old and annoying meme/fad? I love you Red, but really? It's not just the strongest sword, it's probably the strongest weapon in the game. Please either nerf it, since 200 base damage is OP no matter how you look at it, or buff other swords, or both.

I'm pretty sure Meowmere isn't the BEST weapon in the game, since it doesn't have a high DPS really (compared to those OP magic weapons like the Last Prism)

Thank you the Last Prism can reach well over 300 000 and even the Lunar Flare can reach 20 000

And as for PvP. For Terraria, I believe it exists because people wanted it to exist, not because Terraria was built upon it. It's not the main focus of the game, and therefore the balance is designed after the PvE, that IS the main focus of the game. Personally, I feel I'm not missing anything by ever participating in PvP in this game.

The meowmere is one of the strongest swords for the same reason that a dolfin is one of the strongest guns. Or a rainbow laser firing piece of glass is the strongest magic focus thing... The devs are sometimes insane internet folk.

Meowmere aside, I'm just hoping for the eventual ability to dye weaponry and projectiles (individually, ideally).. Drives me insane that I coordinate a nice purple-and-black outfit and then have to use a orange-and-green pumpkin sword with it ;)

It'd be less agitating if it wasn't for the fact that you can basically paint/color every single thing in the game except your weapons :)

Yeah? And Meowmere's projectiles bounce about 5 times before disappearing, making it more versatile.

"versatile" the only time that richochet will be useful is if your in an enclosed area/ground level, which is a terrible idea against the moonlord, unless you are using it for defending, in which case, you complain is still null
