As mentioned above, all of those (code 2/yelets/dev yoyos) require beating at least one HM boss (specifically, any of the 3 mechanical bosses for code 2/yelets - destroyer is generally considered the easiest one).
It's also worth using emblems and other gear as well as reforging to godly and using potions (wrath/rage) to boost damage if killing it fast enough is the problem. Summons further boost dps as well and you can easily have 2-3 for the duration of the fight even without summoning gear if that's still not enough.
That's the problem, skeletron prime can be fight airborne, which would make the fight incredibly easy, but the summons may not be able to attack while flying (depending on which summons I choose) but for the sake of it, i'll try bringing some summons with me and see whether he will die quick enough, I'm really hoping for the code 2 since it has infinite duration.
Thanks very much for the info, this will help me well in the future.

If yes make their summoning staff, those minons fly. Easy enough fix for you minion concern. Since your yoyo question has already been answered.
Actually it wasn't obvious, as you stated in another post on this thread that you're hoping to get that yoyo.
As far as I knew you were just waiting for the merchant that has it to spawn with it, but didn't want to wait for it, if there were options available to do instead.
So instead of assuming, I asked if you had beat them. Plus offered a choice of summons if you had beat them.
As for level of difficulty I've always felt skeleton prime was the hardest, for whatever reason I can walk through the other two, but skeleton prime.
Skeleton Prime is by far the hardest of the three Mech bosses.
The Twins can easily be defeated if you have decent Wings and good ranged offensive power. You can just fly away from them nonstop and fire in their direction; at worst you'll take a few laser hits from Retinazer when it gets low on HP.
The Destroyer's physical body can be entirely avoided using a simple platform, then all you need to do is use AoE/piercing attacks (along with a Nimbus Rod, it's amazing in this fight), destroying Probes as they spawn to minimize damage received.
