After amarok, all the yoyos are only obtainable from either beating or defeating a hardmode boss. The next most powerful one you can get is the code 2, sold by the traveling merchant.

Yelets or a dev yoyo (any expert HM boss treasure bag has a small chance of giving one) is the most significant difference, and both are available at the same point as the code 2 - yelets is just as easy to obtain as the amarok (just jungle instead of frozen) is so that's normally what I go for, especially seen as I'll have a small artificial jungle biome at base for the witch doctor's house anyway most the time, so fighting an invasion or other event close enough to it will often result in a yelets drop. The dev yoyos really aren't worth trying to obtain at this point, the drop rate is low and the kraken/eye of cthulu after plantera will outdo them anyway, but if you're lucky enough to get one then they're better than yelets.

As mentioned above, all of those (code 2/yelets/dev yoyos) require beating at least one HM boss (specifically, any of the 3 mechanical bosses for code 2/yelets - destroyer is generally considered the easiest one).

It's also worth using emblems and other gear as well as reforging to godly and using potions (wrath/rage) to boost damage if killing it fast enough is the problem. Summons further boost dps as well and you can easily have 2-3 for the duration of the fight even without summoning gear if that's still not enough.

Thanks for the suggestions.

That's the problem, skeletron prime can be fight airborne, which would make the fight incredibly easy, but the summons may not be able to attack while flying (depending on which summons I choose) but for the sake of it, i'll try bringing some summons with me and see whether he will die quick enough, I'm really hoping for the code 2 since it has infinite duration.

The question was which yoyo I can get after the amarok (one step above) because I need it for a boss fight.

You beat the twins yet?

If yes make their summoning staff, those minons fly. Easy enough fix for you minion concern. Since your yoyo question has already been answered.

The question was obvious, if I had beaten the twins yet I would've had code 2 but I decided to fight skeletron prime because he was much easier, I'm still building a sky bridge to fight the twins on later, I feel like leaving the destroyer to the last cause he is quite hard because of the head.

Actually it wasn't obvious, as you stated in another post on this thread that you're hoping to get that yoyo.

.

As far as I knew you were just waiting for the merchant that has it to spawn with it, but didn't want to wait for it, if there were options available to do instead.

So instead of assuming, I asked if you had beat them. Plus offered a choice of summons if you had beat them.

As for level of difficulty I've always felt skeleton prime was the hardest, for whatever reason I can walk through the other two, but skeleton prime.

Skeleton Prime is by far the hardest of the three Mech bosses.

The Twins can easily be defeated if you have decent Wings and good ranged offensive power. You can just fly away from them nonstop and fire in their direction; at worst you'll take a few laser hits from Retinazer when it gets low on HP.

The Destroyer's physical body can be entirely avoided using a simple platform, then all you need to do is use AoE/piercing attacks (along with a Nimbus Rod, it's amazing in this fight), destroying Probes as they spawn to minimize damage received.

Ok thanks, and I don't even know how skeletron prime is the hardest mech boss for you guys, I find him really easy, especially since the only thing threating is his laser and spinning attack which I can still survive, I find the destroyer the hardest because of the probes. I'm working as I said on a skybridge to fight the twins on.

I'd go for Yeleth (really easy to drop) or Eye of Chthulu (dropped by Mothrons during the solar eclipse).

Yeah, I'll go for the yelets cause morthon is quite powerful honestly. I'll have to set up a farm just for him. :/
