Are mimics more rare these days?

Mimic were never a very rare enemy, I used to find them non stop, but after entering hardmode with my latest character I've literally only found three, and I've been in hard mode for a pretty decent amount of time now, has anybody else had this problem? I've been trying to upgrade my mana flower to something better, but I've only been able to kill a single mimic and it dropped a dual hook, it's getting frustrating

Are you using a hunter potion? Battle potion?

Well, there are more rare monsters that probably steal its spawn chance or something.

Do you have a lifeform analyser so you can detect them?
Water candles, battle potions for spawn rate.
Luck potions and gnome for luck which increases chance.

also there maybe there are too many enemies nearby so it cant spawn
