Why is Bladetongue so Underrated for True Melee?

You can facetank master destroyer and do like 7k dps lmao. People are calling true melee unplayable since the much needed Night's Edge nerf, when Bladetongue exists.

It's simple. The Bladetongue is underrated because it's a fishing drop. People don't realize how OP fishing is in this game.

Bladetongue? Is that a new item? I've been using true excallibur for my melee atm. Though i often use ranged for bosses and melee for normal enemies.

Just searched it up, applying ichor debuff is quite nice. Certainly good if not using ranged for ichor ammo. I didn't even know this existed.

Though for me personally, i would still use ichor ammo. Trying to facetank things in master mode won't end well.

I wouldn't call it that good. Bladeotongue is quite literally just your average Adamantite/Titanium Sword without the ichor projectile. Just use an ichor flask on either of them and call it a bladeotongue lol. Also, destroyer is immune to ichor.

I'm not sure how true the last part is. The wiki says immune but when i used ichor on it the effects showed.

all my true melee runs dont use weapons that spawn projectiles even after a hit so i dont consider bladetongue to be true melee

It's been in the game for a while, but I'd use it to easily kill destroyer and then get excalibur.
Also you kill destroyer so fast it's easy to facetank him with it.

You only looked at stats and never used it I assume, because it absolutely shreds Destroyer compared to titanium sword. The ichor projectile pierces and does damage, not just inflicts ichor. And you probably know how well piercing works on Destroyer, so you can see why it's so good. You can facetank him on Master with it, the blade is that good.

And I know he's immune to ichor, but I don't use it for the ichor. I use it for the damage and piercing the ichor stream does.

You have to get close to the enemy to deal damage, so I (And everyone I've asked, and even the wiki.) say it counts.

Bladetongue is good. I've used it when I first did true melee. Such a good weapon on Retinazer's second phase.

Also I should probably add that it's underrated because people think its projectile doesn't make it count for true melee, despite you needing to hit the enemy first. Also because you need to fish for it.

Getting too close to the destroyer is quite risky if you want to do damage with a non 1.4.4 melee sword.
I tested out the dps, and by itself, it did around 400 damage per second on master mode destroyer. With your average pre mech gear it does around twice that damage and even after around 6 tries i still couldn't beat the destroyer on master mode with pre mech gear w/ Bladeotongue nor could i even get it to 75% hp I tried aiming for the coil it spawns from but that doesn't help. It is better to use another projectile based melee weapon.
