What I have just realized, is that the achievement you receive for defeating Plantera, a.k.a "The Great Southern Plantkill", is possibly referring to the heavy metal band "Pantera", and their album "The Great Southern Trendkill", also notice that the name of the boss is "Plantera", and the band is called "Pantera", and the similitude in the names (both achievement and boss) with the band's and their album is quite big.
I don't know what do you think about this, may be Terraria's creator, Andrew Spinks, mostly known as "Redigit", is a fan of rock and heavy metal music.
This just keeps giving me reasons to love the game XD.

It is a rare drop from plantera also it is a rock guitar.

The one who likes Pantera from them is not Redigit but his wife, Cenx. And regarding "The Axe" it's a Hamaxe which can be dropped by Plantera (2% chance only), it looks similar to a Gibson "Flying V" guitar, and when u swung it, it produces electric guitar sound :D

It is a reference- the rare drop from plantera, "The Axe" is an electric guitar. :P
