How to get Sharks to spawn?
Hardmode, defeated twins, need sharks to get sharkfins but unable to get them to spawn. Any tips?

I'm at the end of the world and made a bit of a trench like structure in the water with platforms in the middle kinda like a u-shape with holes in the bottom

they should spawn in the ocean by default. but we don't know what your ocean looks like. can you show us a screenshot? or try going to a different ocean?

they can be very rare but just hang out in the water and some will spawn. also if you have a magic conch going from ocean to ocean does seem to speed up there spawns

go to the end of the ocean, build a platform, and put a water candle down

What kind of spawns are you seeing currently?
Rememer that enemies spawn off-screen

That relies on sandstorms which is also luck based, you're better off doing it in the ocean. In prehardmode, you should get 5 shark fins to prepare to get the megashark in hardmode, so you don't have to spend a lot of time trying to get them in hardmode.
Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. I am in hardmode (about to fight plantera), and need those sharkfins. Please see my screenshot below regarding my little ocean platform situation I have going here, at the end of the world (I tried water candle + battle potion and still no luck)

The only things that spawns are Jellyfish and slimes, and the occasional zombie

Edit: I got a few sharkfins off a sandstorm, but I need 10 total, only got 6 so far (need to make 2 megasharks one for me and one for my buddy)

Faster way is a shark statue + timer engine. Lava lowers drop chances, but if u kill the sharks from statue by hand they should drop fins regularly.

Same can be done with jellyfish and glowstick etc

PS: Statue spawned enemies have lower drop chances, but it's still faster than to travel to ocean and wait there pointless ...

They spawn in the ocean at the edge of the world but it’s pretty rare if you find a shark statue which is random to get you can wire it to a switch making it spawn infinite sharks and you can still get shark fins even if the sharks are from the statue.
