How to find Crystal hearts?

I've been playing the game for about 11 hours and I've managed to find the 3 crimson hearts, and destroy 2 of them. however, I know that destroying the 3rd will cause the brain of Cthulhu to appear, and i'm kinda unprepared given that I'm still at 100 HP. I've been trying to find heart crystals but to no avail, so I'm wondering if theres a trick to finding them or something. Help would be appreciated

you find em deep underground there random but really deep if you see a glowing big red heart thats one of em

Use a spelunker potion to see them.

Look for undergroud caves, that's where you usually dind them.

Make Spelunker potions, they are a huge help for finding hearts/chests/ores while digging. You be surprised how many you might have missed in areas you already dug through.

good idea, single player allows for trial and error much more than multiplayer

Dont have any moonglow though. Guess I gotta figure out where the heck my jungle is

find a giant cave and explore for a while that usually ends in lots

they are pretty much everywear but not on the surface
